In this issue of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Clinics of North America, guest editors Drs. Prashanthi N. Thota and Amitabh Chak bring their considerable expertise to the topic of Advances in Barrett’s Esophagus. Recent innovations in imaging technologies have significantly improved the screening and surveillance of Barrett’s esophagus; however, ongoing challenges include the need for better risk stratification tools to identify patients at high risk of progression to cancer and the development of more effective, less invasive treatment options. Gastroenterologists and endoscopists must also address the issue of late-stage diagnosis, which continues to hinder effective treatment and management of this condition.
