Descripción

Endophyte Technology: An Integrative Approach for Agriculture, Healthcare, and Environmental Sustainability explores how understanding endophyte biology can be utilized in agriculture, medicine, and environmental remediation. As the global population continues to grow, the pressures on agricultural systems to produce sufficient food sustainably are intensifying. Concurrently the need for innovative medical solutions and effective environmental conservation practices is becoming increasingly urgent. This book addresses these critical needs by offering a detailed account of endophytes and their potential applications across these important fields.

The book is structured into three parts, covering agricultural, ecological, and pharmaceutical aspects of endophytes. Part I looks into the role of endophytes in agriculture, discussing their potential in promoting plant growth, enhancing nutrient acquisition, and providing stress tolerance to plants. It explores how endophytes can promote sustainable agriculture, reducing the reliance on synthetic fertilizers and pesticides. Subsequent chapters explore topics such as endophyte colonization patterns, phytohormone production, and the development of bioformulations like biofertilizers, biopesticides, and biocontrol agents. Part II focuses on the ecological significance of endophytes, examining their role in ecosystem functioning, bioremediation, and adaptation to extreme environments. Part III highlights the pharmaceutical potential of endophytes, centering their ability to produce bioactive metabolites with antimicrobial, anticancer, and anti-inflammatory properties, and their role in drug discovery and biofuel production.

This book is an important resource for undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as researchers and professionals in agriculture, horticulture, botany, biochemistry, and biotechnology.
