Páll Karlsson
Dr. Páll Karlsson is an Associate Professor at Aarhus University and leads the Molecular Mechanisms group at the Danish Pain Research Center. His research focuses on the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying neuropathic pain, with a particular emphasis on human tissue-based approaches, including skin biopsies, advanced immunohistochemistry, and spatial transcriptomics. He integrates detailed clinical phenotyping with multi-omics analyses to investigate disease mechanisms in diabetic neuropathy and related conditions. His work aims to improve understanding of the biological processes that distinguish painful from painless neuropathy and to support the identification of potential therapeutic targets through translational human studies.
