    Bioestadística amigable es un clásico que cumple ya 24 años de vida activa e intensa y goza cada vez de mejor salud. Díaz de Santos publicó una modesta primera edición el 15 de octubre de 2001. Cinco años después apareció la segunda edición, mucho más completa. Elsevier tomó después el relevo con una muy mejorada tercera edición en 2014, a la que siguió la cuarta edición de 2020, con nuevas aportaciones e innovaciones y unos cambios sustanciales. Esta 5ª edición afronta la gran transformación que se está dando en Estadística. Hemos pasado de 24 a 27 capítulos. Va a servir mucho a investigadores y estudiantes. Se usa el verbo servir en su doble acepción, la de desarrollar una generosa tarea de servicio y la de ser verdaderamente útil. Sacará de dudas y apuros a los investigadores (como consta que sucedió con ediciones previas) y abrirá a los alumnos horizontes apasionantes en la investigación biomédica. Como siempre, se opta por un planteamiento muy práctico de los métodos cuantitativos en la investigación y este libro se leerá mejor con las manos en el teclado. Cada procedimiento se basa en un ejemplo numérico simple, que permite hacer cálculos sencillos. Esos mismos datos se usan para que el lector vea cómo se realiza el análisis con paquetes estadísticos estándar y pueda interpretarlos correctamente.
