The two primary concerns is that there will be mis-management of: a life-threatening situation a limb-threatening situation In order to allay these anxieties and fears, people attend courses from time to time. However, there is no easily accessible manual or guide that can be scanned before the game, or even during the emergency. What is special about this book is that it is a manual with clear instructions on what to do in a given sports emergency. There are clear instructions on what to do, and, just as importantly, what not to do. Children are not mini-adults. They are growing and maturing at their own individual rates and their physiological responses to exercise are dependent on a large number of variables as they progress through childhood and adolescence into adult life. Understanding has been limited by the fact that measurement techniques and equipment developed for use with adults are often not appropriate or even ethical for use with young people. These issues are addressed in this book which provides an analysis of physiological responses to exercise in relation to age, growth, maturation and sex.
